Herpa 580892 1/72 U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper New York ANG 108th Attack Squadron

The MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted, unmanned aerial vehicle. It is flown by a two-person crew from a ground station. Unlike previous drones, which were primarily used for surveillance and reconnaissance, the Reaper is the first to be designed as an attack platform. Powered by a 900 hp turboprop engine, the MQ-9 reaches a top speed of 480 km/h, while its 1,800 kg of fuel gives it a range of 1,900 km. Beneath the 20-meter-long wings are up to four attachment points for a variety of weapons, such as Hellfire air-to-ground missiles or laser-guided bombs. In 2007, the U.S. Air Force took delivery of the first of over 300 ordered "Reapers." Due to wear and tear and the retirement of older aircraft, approximately 220 MQ-9s are currently active in more than 20 squadrons, including eleven U.S. National Guard units. The 108th Squadron, based in Syracuse, New York, is part of the state's National Guard and is responsible for training MQ-9 crews of the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. This 1:72 scale metal model can be displayed with either the landing gear extended or retracted. Two sets of landing gear elements and a display stand are included.
