Tomix 98590 N 98590 489 Limited Express KUHA 489-200.600 Basic Set 4 Cars

The 489 series was introduced in 1971 as a vehicle based on the 485 series with modifications to allow passage between Yokokawa and Karuizawa on the Shinetsu Main Line.

As the number of trains increased, the same design changes were made as for the 485 series, and from 1972, a group with KuHa 489 200 and 600 series trains as the lead cars were manufactured.

As per its origins, this series was used on the Shinetsu Main Line express trains that passed through Usui Pass and connected Ueno, Nagano, and Kanazawa, as well as on the Hokuriku Main Line express trains "Raicho" and "Shirasagi" together with the 485 series.

  • The 600th generation Kuha 489 series reproduces the underfloor with two compressors different from the Kuha 481 series
  • It has an emergency exit and reproduces the gray roof
  • It comes with a printed train mark "Shirasagi (illustration)" and replacement "Hakusan (illustration), Hakutaka (illustration), Hakusan (lettering), Asama (lettering)"
  • It comes with a toilet tank and replacement flush pipe parts
  • The H-rubber is reproduced in gray
  • ATS on-board unit parts included
  • Shoe prints and door rails printed
  • Car number, JR mark, and JNR mark are included on transfer sheets
  • Head, Taillights and train marks are equipped with a constant lighting board and an ON-OFF switch

  • Uses a flywheel-equipped power source
  • Uses a new current collection system and black wheels

  • The driver's side of the 489 series 600 series is equipped with a TN coupler in preparation for coupling with the EF63 series, and a dummy coupler is included for replacement
  • The driver's side of the 489 series 200 series is equipped with a dummy coupler
  • Each coupling side is equipped with a TN coupler (SP) with piping as standard
