The JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) is a newly developed tactical vehicle by the U.S. military, gradually replacing the aging Humvee high-mobility vehicles. The new vehicle meets the needs of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Forces.
The M1278 is a heavy machine gun mounted vehicle. It is the base model of the four-door general-purpose JLTV family. It is equipped with an armored M2 heavy machine gun weapon station on the roof. Various remote weapon stations can also be equipped, which can use the M2 12.7mm heavy machine gun or a lightweight 30mm chain gun.
