Herpa 538800 1/500 Interflug Ilyushin IL-18
The Interflug IL-18 is a classic of civil aviation—both in the original and as a collector's model. Twenty years ago, it was already part of the Herpa Collection in 1:500 scale. It's high time, then, for a reissue with a new registration. DM-STE was first commissioned by the Air Force of the German Democratic Republic in 1962 before being transferred to Interflug in 1964. It was not decommissioned until 1989 and can now be viewed at the Hans Grade Museum in Borkheide, Brandenburg. The IL-18 houses an exhibition on the life of the aviator and designer Hans Grade, who achieved the first powered flight in Germany in 1908 with a self-built triplane.
