Hasegawa 01534 1/72 Ah-1S Cobra Chopper J.G.S.D.F.
The Bell AH-1S Cobra is an attack helicopter designed to support ground forces. The Cobra series was developed from the UH-1 Iroquois to escort the CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter
during the Vietnam War.
This model features a Lycoming T53-L-703 turboshaft engine and a reinforced powertrain to accommodate the increased power output. The increased power output also allows for a larger armament load. The maximum armament load is eight TOW missiles, 38 rockets, and a triple 20mm nose-mounted cannon with 760 rounds of ammunition.
The AH-1S is also licensed and deployed by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force as an anti-tank helicopter. Combined with OH-6 helicopters, anti-tank helicopter squadrons
are formed in Hokkaido and other areas.
Hasegawa's Cobra kit with markings for the Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces (shark mouth scheme -- see the beautiful Shigeo Koike box art). Engraved panel lines.
