The Zero Fighter, which achieved victories in the early stages of the war, was an excellent fighter plane that achieved the best possible flight performance with an engine of less than 1000 horsepower.
Because it was such an excellent aircraft, manufacturers and the military began to seek something even better, and development of the A6M3 model, including an engine replacement, began in early 1941, one year before the outbreak of the Pacific War.
Hasegawa's kit of the A6M3 Zero Type 22/32 includes both the rounded wings of the Type 22 and the clipped wings of the Type 32, plus markings for aircraft of the 251st Naval Flying Group (Type 22) the 202nd Naval Flying Group (Type 22), and the Tainan Naval Flying Group (Type 32).
