The BNR32 GT-R was released in August 1989, at the height of Japan's bubble economy, as an additional model to the R32 Skyline, which had previously debuted as the "Super Sensational Skyline."

The Skyline GT-R lineage, which had been absent for 16 years since the Kenmeri GT-R, has returned.
The BNR32 was born to win Group A races (JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship), which was the highest level of domestic touring car racing at the time, and the specially designed, powerful RB26DETT had its engine displacement determined in accordance with Group A regulations.

The BNR32 Skyline GT-R won every race in the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship, achieving a legendary 29 consecutive wins.

After the introduction of the BNR32, racing became a one-make event for the GT-R, and the BNR32 became the champion on every stage, from the street to the circuit, and reigned supreme as a historic car that rewrote the history of automobiles up to that point.
